Willie Randolph spent 13 of his 18 years as a Major League baseball player with the New York Yankees and won the World Series in 1977 and 1978 as a member of the Bombers. A talented second baseman and respected hitter Randolph also played for Pirates Dodgers A's Brewers and Mets. Following his retirement fan-favorite Randolph spent 11 seasons as a coach for the Yankees before taking over as manager of the New York Mets in 2005. Randolph led the Mets to an 83-79 record in 2005 their first winning record since 2001 and in 2006 he oversaw a team that won the National League East before losing the NLCS in seven games to the Cardinals who eventually won the World Series.
